Submit an Open Records Request to TCDA
Open records requests may be submitted to TCDA by email, standard mail, or in-person.

Upon receiving an open records request, TCDA has ten business days to respond. If the request is voluminous, the requestor may be asked to pay a fee before TCDA can provide the responsive documents.
When submitting an open records request to TCDA, please provide a specific description of the information or documents that you are requesting to avoid the need for clarification. Examples of helpful information to include in your request are the cause number, the defendant’s name, the title and date of a document you are seeking, or other personal identifiers about an individual involved in the case, like a date of birth or a driver’s license number.
Please remember that TCDA prosecutes felony offenses. Felony cases typically have cause numbers that begin “D-1-DC”. Request Court Records Related to a Criminal Case
Records requests relating to a court’s judgement or the disposition of a criminal case must be submitted to a clerk’s office. Court records requests related to a misdemeanor case may be submitted to the Travis County Clerk. Court records requests related to a felony case may be submitted to the Travis County District Clerk.
Request Misdemeanor Case Records
To request records related to a misdemeanor case, please get in touch with the Travis County Attorney’s Office. Misdemeanor cases typically have cause numbers that begin “C-1-CR”.
Serve A Subpoena
TCDA does not agree to accept the service of subpoenas by mail or email. If you would like to schedule a time to hand-serve a subpoena, please call (512) 854-3694 or email DASubpoenaQuestion@traviscountytx.gov to make arrangements.
