Travis County Grand Jury Clears Officers Rodriguez, Kephart, Alzola, and Yu in Officer Involved Shooting Case
Travis County, TX — Today, Travis County District Attorney José Garza announced that on Thursday, February 5, 2026, a Travis County Special Grand Jury had concluded its review of the November 7, 2024, officer-involved shooting involving Austin Police Department Officers Javier Rodriguez, Joseph Kephart, Katherine Alzola and Andy Yu and did not return an indictment for the officers.
On November 7, 2024, Zachary Labrie sustained gunshots during an incident involving APD Officers Javier Rodriguez, Joseph Kephart, Katherine Alzola, and Andy Yu.
“The Travis County District Attorney’s office takes the work of presenting all facts and evidence to a grand jury very seriously,” said Travis County District Attorney José Garza. “In this case, an independent group of members of the Travis County community heard the evidence and law and decided that Officers Rodriguez, Kephart, Alzola, and Yu’s conduct was not unlawful.”
