Travis County Jury Convicts Man Charged with Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child
Travis County, TX — On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, a Travis County jury convicted Antonio Lopez Elizalde, 73, of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child.
On Monday, August 4, 2025, jury selection began, and testimony started the next day. On Wednesday, August 6, 2025, after 10 minutes of deliberation, the jury found Mr. Elizalde guilty of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child. On Thursday, August 7, 2025, the jury sentenced him to serve 50 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
On November 18, 2024, the Austin Police Department arrested Mr. Alizalde and charged him with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child for the offenses that took place between May 2017 and May 2020.
A Travis County grand jury indicted Mr. Elizalde for multiple counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child on February 12, 2025. Subsequently, on July 24, 2025, another Travis County grand jury reindicted Mr. Elizalde for the offenses of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child, Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child under 6 and 14 years of age, and another two counts of Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact. Since the jury convicted Mr. Elizalde on the primary offense of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Young Child, the jury did not render verdicts on the remaining lesser included offenses.
Assistant District Attorneys Jordan Ninh and Jacob Salinas tried the case against Mr. Elizalde, with the support of Victim Witness Counselor Lolita Rattler, Investigator Fred Spencer, Paralegals Olivia Colvert and Amanda Whiteaker, and Legal Secretary Randi Skelton. Austin Police Department Detective Maria Casanova led the investigation in Mr. Elizalde’s case.
“Our office is grateful to our committed staff and law enforcement partners who worked tirelessly to hold the defendant accountable and seek justice for the victim,” said Travis County District Attorney José Garza. “We hope this verdict continues to help the victim with their healing journey.”
