Travis County Jury Convicts Man Charged with Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, Sexual Assault of a Child, and Sexual Performance by a Child
Jury Sentences Him to Life in Prison
Travis County, TX — On September 25, 2026, a Travis County jury convicted Phillip Sorrentino, 55, of one count of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, three counts of Sexual Assault of a Child, and three counts of Sexual Performance by a Child.
For Sorrentino’s trial, jury selection started on Monday, September 14, 2026, and the State began presenting evidence and testimony on Wednesday, September 16, 2026. The jury began deliberations on Friday, September 25, 2026, and found him guilty that same day of one count of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, three counts of Sexual Assault of a Child, and three counts of Sexual Performance by a Child.
On Monday, September 28, 2026, the jury sentenced him to life in prison for the Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child charge, 20 years for each count of Sexual Assault of a Child, and 20 years for each count of Sexual Performance by a Child, all to be served concurrently in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
On August 19, 2022, the Travis County Sheriff’s Office arrested Sorrentino and charged him with Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child. On January 27, 2025, Sorrentino was indicted on the offenses of one count of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, four counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, two counts of Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact, three counts of Sexual Assault of a Child, and three counts of Sexual Performance by a Child.
Assistant District Attorneys Habon Mohamed, Tristan Davantes, and Marshal Andrews presented the case against Sorrentino, with support from Victim Counselor Lynn Cragg, Investigator Chris Nowlin, Paralegal Angelica Nieto, and Legal Secretary Breanna Rhoton. Travis County Sheriff’s Office Detective Brian Harthausen investigated the case against Sorrentino.
