Travis County Jury Convicts Man Charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Travis County, TX — On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, a Travis County jury convicted Roberto Avilez-Jaimes, 37, of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
On Monday, June 8, 2026, jury selection began for Avilez-Jaimes’s trial, and the State presented evidence the following day. On Wednesday, June 10, 2026, the jury deliberated, found him guilty of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and sentenced him to 7 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
The Travis County Sheriff’s Office arrested Avilez-Jaimes on January 2, 2025, and charged him with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. On March 6, 2025, Avilez-Jaimes was indicted for the offense of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
Assistant District Attorneys Drew Kwartler and Cynthia Cline presented the case against Avilez-Jaimes with the support of Victim Counselor Terrience Greene, Investigator Alyssa Goodger, Paralegal Allison Matous, and Legal Secretary Ana-Laura Mujica. Travis County Sheriff’s Office Detective John Coker investigated the case against Avilez-Jaimes.
