Travis County DA’s Office Dismisses Cases Against Anatomical Facility CEO & Austin Mortuary Owner
Tampering with government records cases will continue
Travis County, TX — Today,Travis County District Attorney José Garza announced that our office has filed motions to dismiss the Abuse of a Human Corpse Without Legal Authority and Aggravated Perjury cases against MedtoMarket CEO Dr. Aaron Ali, 53, and the Abuse of a Corpse case against Capital Mortuary Services Owner Adeline Bui, 50. However, Ms. Bui’s five separate Tampering with Government Records cases will continue to be prosecuted by our office’s Public Integrity and Complex Crimes Division.
After a careful and thorough review, we filed the motions to dismiss, finding that there is sufficient evidence of a legal defense.
On April 18, 2025, Adeline Bui self-surrendered at the Travis County Jail and was charged with Abuse of a Human Corpse Without Legal Authority and five separate cases of Tampering with Government Records. On April 28, 2025, Dr. Aaron Ali voluntarily reported to the Travis County Jail and was charged with Abuse of a Human Corpse Without Legal Authority and Aggravated Perjury.
“In every case, we are obligated to evaluate the facts and evidence to establish that the felony offenses can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt,” said Travis County District Attorney José Garza. “In these cases, we have concluded that sufficient evidence of a legal defense exists, which precludes us from proceeding with the cases.”
The motions to dismiss were filed today, Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
