Removal Petition Against Travis County District Attorney José Garza Dismissed by Presiding Judge
Travis County, TX — Today, Tuesday, December 12, 2024, the presiding judge assigned to oversee the petition to remove Travis County District Attorney José Garza dismissed the petition.
Travis County District Attorney José Garza released the following statement.
“Over the past four years, we have worked hard to keep the community safe, fix the criminal justice system, and uphold the laws of the State of Texas. We have never deviated from those goals, and I am proud of what we have accomplished thus far. The removal petition was a politically motivated effort to prevent us from achieving our goals. It did not work – and it could not work because we respect the law and the community we serve. Along with my staff, I will continue to work tirelessly to protect our community and uphold the rule of law.”
