Travis County DA’s Office Secures Conviction for Man Charged with Murder and Assault on a Public Servant
Travis County, TX — On Monday, January 22, 2024, Kelvin Jaquan Robinson, 23, pled guilty to Murder and Assault on a Public Servant before jury selection began for his trial. He was sentenced to 26 years for Murder and 4 years for Assault on a Public Servant to be served concurrently in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force arrested Mr. Robinson on January 12, 2021, and the Austin Police Department charged him with Murder for the death of Mario Robinson, 23, which took place on November 7, 2020.
On January 28, 2021, Mr. Robinson was indicted for the offense of Murder. While in custody, Mr. Robinson was charged with Assault of a Public Servant, and he was indicted for that offense on February 13, 2023.
The case against Mr. Robinson was prepared by Assistant District Attorneys Neha Naik, Andrea Austin, and Cindy Izquierdo, with the support of Investigator Mike Henderson, Victim Counselor Kyrsten Engstrom, Paralegal Raquel Sanchez, and Legal Secretary Chardell Clark. Mr. Robinson’s case was investigated by APD’s Sgt. Paul Chavez and Sgt. Christopher Vanlandingham as the lead detectives.
