Travis County Jury Convicts Man Charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault
Travis County, TX — On Thursday, April 24, 2025, a Travis County jury convicted Jerris Harris, 28, of Aggravated Sexual Assault.
Jury selection started on Monday, April 21, 2025, and testimony began on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. On Thursday, April 24, 2025, the jury started deliberations and found Mr. Harris guilty of Aggravated Sexual Assault. On Friday, April 25, 2025, the judge sentenced Mr. Harris to serve 25 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
On February 15, 2019, our office filed an information charging Mr. Harris with the offense of Aggravated Sexual Assault, which occurred on August 8, 2018. This case against Mr. Harris was initially filed under D1DC19300032, but it was dismissed due to an inability to locate the victim. The case was subsequently refiled upon the relocation of the victim.
On November 20, 2020, Mr. Harris was indicted for the offense of Aggravated Sexual Assault.
Assistant District Attorneys TJ Harris and Jamie Liu presented the case against Mr. Harris with the support of Victim Counselors Kiandra Benson and Kyrsten Engstrom, Investigator Rachael Lacey, Paralegal Amanda Beaver, and Legal Secretaries Anthony Giles, Valerie Briones, and Randi Skelton. Austin Police Department Sgt. Robert Thompson investigated Mr. Harris’ case.
