Travis County Jury Convicts Man of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child Under 14, Four Counts of Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact, and Six Counts of Sexual Assault of a Child
Travis County, TX — On Friday, February 27, 2026, a Travis County jury convicted Charlie Simon, 58, of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child Under 14, four counts of Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact, and six counts of Sexual Assault of a Child.
For Simon’s trial, jury selection started on Monday, February 23, 2026, and the State began presenting evidence on the following day. On Friday, February 27, 2026, the jury deliberated and found Simon guilty of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child Under 14, four Counts of Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact, and six Counts of Sexual Assault of a Child.
On Tuesday, March 3, 3026, the jury sentenced Simon to 50 years without parole for his charge of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child Under 14, 45 years for each of his six counts of Sexual Assault of a Child, and 40 years for each of the four counts of Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact. All sentences will be served concurrently within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
In July 2022, the Austin Police Department arrested Simon and charged him with Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child Under 14. On June 16, 2025, Simon was reindicted for the offenses of one count of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child Under 14, seven counts of Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact, six counts of Sexual Assault of a Child, and seven counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child.
Assistant District Attorneys Jackson Gayle and Yasmeen Aboellhasan presented the case against Charlie Simon with the support of Victim Counselor Terrience Greene, Investigator Charles Dobbins, Paralegal Olivia Culvert, and Legal Secretaries Randi Skelton and Isabella Stovall. Austin Police Department Detective Russell Constable investigated the case against Simon.
