Travis County Jury Convicts Man of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child and Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact
Travis County, TX — On Friday, February 13, 2026, a Travis County jury convicted Misael Alexander Rodas Martinez, 32, of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child and Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact.
For Martinez’s trial, jury selection started on Monday, February 9, 2026, and the State began presenting evidence and witnesses on the following day. On Friday, February 13, 2026, the jury deliberated and found him guilty of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child and Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact. On the same day, the State and Defendant reached an agreement on his punishment at 35 years without parole for Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child and ten years for Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact. Both sentences run concurrently and will be served in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
On November 28, 2024, the Austin Police Department arrested and charged Martinez with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child. On February 19, 2025, Martinez was indicted with the offenses of one count of Continuous Sexual Abuse of a Child, five counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child, and one count of Indecency with a Child by Sexual Contact.
Assistant District Attorneys Cindy Izquierdo and Habon Mohamed presented the case against Misael Alexander Rodas Martinez with the support of Victim Counselor Alexandra Hardwick, Investigators Christopher Nowlin and Isabella Stovall, Paralegal Miguel Rodriguez, and Legal Secretaries Breanna Rhoton and Randi Skelton. Austin Police Department Detectives Rose Perez and Maria Casanova investigated the case against Martinez.
