Travis County District Attorney’s Office Announces Three-Count Indictment Against Deputy Mallinger
Travis County, TX — On Tuesday, June 9, 2026, Travis County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Dennis Mallinger appeared in court for a pretrial hearing after a grand jury of the 167th Judicial District Court returned an indictment charging him with three counts of Official Oppression, a Class A misdemeanor, on April 10, 2026.
In February 2026, Cedar Park Police arrested and charged Mallinger with Official Oppression in connection with an incident that occurred on December 26, 2025. The grand jury returned a three-count indictment alleging that on that date, Mallinger committed the offense of Official Oppression by sexually harassing the complainant, unlawfully detaining her, and, by touching her breast and genitals with his hand without her consent, subjecting her to treatment he knew was unlawful, indecent assault.
Since the allegation pertains to official misconduct, the appropriate venue is the District Court, which requires grand jury approval.
Mallinger’s case is prosecuted by the Travis County District Attorney’s Office’s Public Integrity Complex Cases Unit in the 427th Judicial District Court for Travis County.
“Our hearts continue to break for the victim in this case. We look forward to our ongoing collaboration with Cedar Park Police to seek justice for the victim,” said Travis County District Attorney José Garza. “Holding law enforcement accountable when they break the law is critical to maintaining community trust and to the safety of our community.”
