Travis County District Attorney’s Office Secures Convictions for Man Charged with Double Murder
Travis County, TX — On Friday, May 24, 2024, a Travis County jury convicted Yong Yoon Kim, 33, of two counts of Murder.
For Mr. Kim’s trial, jury selection started on Monday, May 20, 2024, and testimony began the following day. On Friday, May 24, 2024, the jury deliberated and, on the same day, found Mr. Kim guilty of two counts of Murder. On Wednesday, May 29, 2024, the jury assessed his punishment at 50 years on murder count one and 60 years on murder count two, which will run concurrently and be served at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
On January 23, 2022, the Austin Police Department arrested Mr. Kim and charged him with Capital Murder for the deaths of Christopher Rivers, 38, and Nathan Limoge, 28. On August 15, 2023, Mr. Kim was subsequently reindicted in preparation for his trial with two counts of Murder.
This case was previously tried the week of September 18, 2023, and resulted in a hung jury.
Assistant District Attorneys Kiera Kilday and Angie Creasy prepared the case against Yong Yoon Kim with the support of Investigators Adam Johnson, Mike Henderson, and Cyril Friday, Victim Counselor Raquel Pompey, Paralegal Diane Nanez, and Legal Secretary Rebecca Labeth. Austin Police Department Homicide Detectives Shelly Holmstrom and Chris Anderson investigated Mr. Kim’s case.
