Travis County District Attorney’s Office Secures Conviction for Man Charged with Murder
Travis County, TX — On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, a Travis County jury convicted Juan Carbajal Jaimes, 25, of Murder.
For Mr. Jaimes’s trial, jury selection started on Monday, May 20, 2024, and testimony began the following day. On Wednesday, May 22, 2024, the jury deliberated and found Mr. Jaimes guilty of Murder. On Thursday, May 23, 2024, the jury assessed his punishment at ten years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice after a finding of Sudden Passion.
The Austin Police Department charged Mr. Jaimes with the murder of Alfred Lockett, 48, that took place on September 12, 2017. On September 19, 2017, Mr. Jaimes was indicted for the offense of Murder. Mr. Jaimes fled to Mexico after the murder and was extradited to the United States on January 31, 2023, by deputies with the U.S. Marshals Service.
Assistant District Attorneys Erik Nielsen, Cindy Izquierdo, and Amrit Sharma prepared the case against Juan Carbajal Jaimes with the support of Investigator Mike Henderson, Victim Counselors Larissa Youngblood, Whitney Klusman, and Raquel Pompey, Paralegal Raquel Sanchez, and Legal Secretaries Chardell Clarke and Rebecca Labeth. Austin Police Department Homicide Detective Daryl Tynes investigated Mr. Jaimes’s case.
