Travis County DA’s Office Secures Conviction for Man Charged with Indecency with a Child by Contact
Travis County, TX — On Monday, April 15, 2024, a Travis County jury convicted Jay Anthony Morgan, 49, of Indecency with a Child by Contact.
Jury selection began on Monday, April 9, 2024, with testimony starting on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. On Friday, April 12, 2024, the jury started deliberating, and on Monday, April 15, 2024, found Mr. Morgan guilty of Indecency with a Child by Contact, but the jury did not reach a unanimous verdict on his Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child charge. The judge will decide Mr. Morgan’s punishment on May 29, 2014.
The Austin Police Department arrested Mr. Morgan on June 22, 2021, and charged him with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child. On September 1, 2021, Mr. Morgan was indicted of the offenses Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child and Indecency with a Child by Contact.
The case against Mr. Morgan was prepared by Assistant District Attorneys Jennifer Yeager and Helen Tschurr, with the support of Investigator Tanya Thomas and Daniel Evans, Victim Counselor Stacey Miles-Thorpe, Paralegal Stephanie Montes, and Legal Secretary Jennifer Villanueva. Mr.Morgan’s case was investigated by APD Detective Katy Conner.
