Travis County DA’s Office Secures Conviction for Man Charged with Aggravated Kidnaping Sexual Abuse and Two Counts of Sexual Assault
Travis County, TX — On Thursday, September 26, 2024, a Travis County jury convicted Dublas Vasquez, 25, of Aggravated Kidnapping Sexual Abuse and two counts of Sexual Assault.
For Mr. Vasquez’s trial, jury selection started on Monday, September 23, 2024, and testimony began on Wednesday, September 25, 2024. On Thursday, September 26, 2024, the jury deliberated for under 45 minutes and found Mr. Vasquez guilty of Aggravated Kidnapping Sexual Abuse and two counts of Sexual Assault. On Friday, September 27, 2024, the jury assessed his punishment at 60 years for his Aggravated Kidnapping Sexual Abuse case and 20 years for each of his Sexual Assault cases to be served concurrently at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
On September 25, 2023, the Austin Police Department arrested Mr. Vasquez and charged him with Aggravated Kidnapping Sexual Abuse, and two cases of Sexual Assault for the offenses that took place on March 27, 2023.
On December 12, 2023, Mr. Vasquez was indicted for two offenses of Sexual Assault. On December 19, 2023, Mr. Vasquez was indicted for the offense of Aggravated Kidnapping Sexual Abuse.
Assistant District Attorneys Kate Hall and Jacques Roussel tried the case against Mr. Vasquez with the support of Investigator Adam Johnson, Victim Counselor Kyrsten Engstrom, and Paralegal Amanda Beaver. Austin Police Department Detective Andrea Mittel investigated Mr. Vasquez’s cases.
