Travis County District Attorney’s Office Secures Convictions for Acts of Violence
Travis County, TX — On Thursday, December 12, 2024, a Travis County jury convicted Ololade Jakande Shoetan, 44, of Attempted Sexual Assault and Aggravated Kidnapping.
For Mr. Shoetan’s trial, jury selection started on Monday, December 9, 2024, and testimony began the following day. On Thursday, December 12, 2024, the jury deliberated and found him guilty of Attempted Sexual Assault and Aggravated Kidnapping. On Friday, December 13, 2024, the judge assessed his punishment at 20 years on the Aggravated Kidnapping charge and 10 years on the Attempted Sexual Assault charge, which will run concurrently and be served in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
On June 17, 2021, the Travis County Sheriff’s Office arrested Mr. Shoetan and charged him with Sexual Assault. On April 18, 2023, Mr. Shoetan was indicted for the offenses of Sexual Assault and Aggravated Kidnapping.
Assistant District Attorneys Jamie Liu and Willa Cockshutt tried the case against Mr. Shoetan with the support of Investigators Adam Johnson and Rachael Lacey, Victim Counselor Kyrsten Engstrom, Paralegal Amanda Beavers, and Legal Secretary Valerie Deleon. Travis County Sheriff’s Office Detective Timothy Parrish was the lead detective of the investigation, and Deputy Bennett Fassetta and Detective Ann Rivas assisted in the investigation.
