Travis County District Attorney’s Office Secures Conviction for Man Charged with Murder
Travis County, TX — On Thursday, December 12, 2024, a Travis County jury convicted Manolo Gonzalez, 23, of Murder.
For Mr. Gonzalez’s trial, jury selection started on Monday, December 9, 2024, and testimony began the following day. On Thursday, December 12, 2024, the jury deliberated and found him guilty of Murder the same day. On Friday, December 13, 2024, the jury sentenced him to serve 40 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
On January 24, 2023, the Austin Police Department charged Mr. Gonzalez with Murder in the death of Elizabeth Nicole Lopez, 22, while he was in custody for a separate case.
On April 11, 2023, Mr. Gonzalez was indicted with the offense of Murder.
Assistant District Attorneys Rebekah Mata and Sam Henry tried the case against Mr. Gonzalez with the support of Investigator Amy Altgilbers, Victim Counselor Raquel Pompey, Paralegal Hannah Joy, and Legal Secretary Daisy Mora Gomez. Austin Police Department Detective Israel Pina investigated Mr. Gonzalez’s case.
