Travis County District Attorney’s Office Secures Convictions for Fatal Acts of Violence
Travis County, TX — On Tuesday, August 22, 2023, Abraham Kulor, 19, pleaded guilty to two murder cases. A Travis County judge sentenced Mr. Kulor to 40 years in prison for the murder of Anthony Christopher Brown, 27, and 40 years in prison for the murder of Carlos Daniel Calleja, 23, to serve in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
On February 23, 2023, the Austin Police Department charged Mr. Kulor with the murder of Anthony Christopher Brown, which occurred on February 19, 2023, and with the murder of Carlos Daniel Calleja, which took place on February 8, 2023.
Mr. Kulor pleaded guilty to the murders after his probation revocation hearing for a previous Aggravated Robbery case.
The hearing started on Monday, August 21, 2023, and on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, a Travis County judge found all alleged probation violations to be true, including the violation of possessing and using a deadly weapon. The judge adjudicated Mr. Kulor, revoked his community supervision, and sentenced him to 50 years to serve in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
Mr. Kulor’s 40-year and 50-year prison sentences will run concurrently.
On October 7, 2021, the Austin Police Department arrested Mr. Kulor and charged him with Aggravated Robbery for the offense that took place on September 20, 2021.
“Our office is committed to holding people who commit acts of violence accountable,” said Travis County District Attorney José Garza. “We hope this outcome brings closure and peace to the victims’ families.”
