Travis County Grand Jury Clears Trooper Ostrander and Officer Bradburn in Use of Force Case
Travis County, TX — Today, Travis County District Attorney José Garza announced that on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, a Travis County Special Grand Jury had concluded its review of the August 8, 2022, shooting incident involving Texas Department of Safety Trooper Austin Ostrander (#15248), Austin Police Department Officer Michael Bradburn (#9444), and did not return an indictment for the trooper and officer.
On August 8, 2022, Mr. Brandon Munoz sustained a gunshot wound during an incident involving Texas DPS Trooper Austin Ostrander and APD Officer Michael Bradburn.
“The District Attorney’s office takes the work of presenting all facts and evidence to a grand jury very seriously,” said District Attorney Garza. “In this case, an independent group of members of the Travis County community heard the evidence and law and decided that Officer Bradburn’s and Trooper Ostrander’s conduct was not unlawful.”
Since January 1, 2021, 91 cases against law enforcement officers have been presented to a grand jury, and including these cases, 58 times the grand jury has returned a no bill.
