Travis County Grand Jury Issues No True Bills in Christopher Taylor Case, Ending Prosecution of that Case
Travis County, TX — On Tuesday, June 25, 2024, a Travis County Grand Jury concluded its review of the use of force case involving Austin Police Department Officer Christopher Taylor and issued No True Bills.
Previously, on November 15, 2023, after hearing all of the evidence, a trial jury could not reach an agreement on the outcome of the murder case brought against Taylor. Some trial jury members wanted to convict on Murder, and some did not.
Yesterday, the District Attorney’s Office re-presented the case to a grand jury for consideration of murder and other potential charges. The grand jury returned a no-true bill for all charges presented.
“We are surprised and disappointed at this result, but we also respect the grand jury’s decision and time,” said Travis County District Attorney José Garza. “Our hearts continue to break for the Ramos family, who we know are still grieving.”
