Travis County Jury Convicts Man Charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
Travis County, TX — On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, a Travis County jury convicted Vinson Wilson, 37, of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
For Wilson’s trial, jury selection began on Monday, May 4, 2026, and the State presented evidence the following day. On Wednesday, May 6, 2026, the jury deliberated and found Wilson guilty of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon. On the same day, all parties agreed that Wilson would serve an 8-year sentence in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
On July 16, 2025, the Austin Police Department arrested Wilson during a traffic stop on an outstanding warrant for a separate case and charged him with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon for the offense that took place on June 24, 2025. On September 18, 2025, Wilson was indicted for the offense of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
Assistant District Attorneys Dominic Selvera and Tristan Davantes presented the case against Wilson with the support of Victim Counselor Whitney Allen, Investigator Daniel Evans, Paralegal Katrina Spradling, and Legal Secretary Monica Hernandez. Austin Police Department Detective Brandon Solis investigated the case against Wilson.
