On Thursday, March 28, 2024, after deliberating for three hours, the jury found Mr. Vo guilty of Aggravated Sexual Assault. After the jury convicted Mr. Vo, the Travis County District Attorney’s Office requested that the defendant be detained, but our request was denied.
On Friday, March 29, 2024, Mr. Vo did not appear in court for the punishment phase of his trial when the jury assessed his punishment at ten years to be served at the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Law enforcement is actively seeking to apprehend Mr. Vo.
The case against Mr. Vo was tried by Assistant District Attorneys Jamie Liu and Kathryn Scales, with the support of Investigator Dawn Galindo, Victim Counselor Kyrsten Engstrom, Paralegal Laura Huffstutler, and Legal Secretary Valerie Briones. Mr. Vo’s case was investigated by Pflugerville Police Department Detective Joseph Townes, Travis County Sheriff’s Office Sergeant Mark Taub, and Detective Jennifer Boland.
“After the jury convicted Mr. Vo, our prosecutors promptly requested that he be detained, but their request was denied,” said Travis County District Attorney José Garza. “It is disappointing that the victim and their family must continue to wait for the defendant to be held accountable after our team secured his conviction.”
