Travis County District Attorney’s Office Secures Convictions in Raul Meza’s Capital Murder and Murder Cases
Travis County, TX — On Monday, September 30, 2024, Raul Meza, 63, pled guilty to the Capital Murder of Gloria Elizabeth Lofton, 65, which occurred in the course of committing and attempting to commit the offense of Aggravated Sexual Assault. For this offense, Mr. Meza was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Mr. Meza also pled guilty to the Murder of Jesse Fraga, 80, and received another life sentence, both to be served in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Mr. Meza waived his right to appeal for both of these offenses, meaning his cases will not be open for post-conviction litigation after sentencing.
Our office has also filed a motion to dismiss the Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle case against Raul Meza.
“Our hearts continue to break for the Lofton and Fraga families. We hope this outcome continues to help them with their healing process,” said Travis County District Attorney José Garza. “As a result of this outcome, Mr. Meza will spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole and will never threaten our community again. We are grateful to our prosecutors and law enforcement partners who worked tirelessly on these cases and secured justice for the victim’s families and our community.”
